This tutorial will teach you how to color a piece of clothing in Photoshop CS3.
1) Open up the picture you would like to use, I chose
this one.
2) Duplicate the base layer.
3) Since I only want to color her shirt, I'm going to outline her shirt with the
Polygon Lasso tool like
this.
4) Press Ctrl + C to copy and then Ctrl + V to paste and it will make a new layer, with just the shirt in it.
5) Since we don't want the green color of her shirt interfering with our coloring, go to
Image >Adjustements >Desaturate. This will remove the color from the shirt.
This should be what you have now.
5) Now for the coloring! To color the shirt, go to
Layer >Layer Style >Gradient Overlay and choose the gradient you would like over it, or go to
Color Overlay, depending on how you want to color the clothing. Where it says Blend Mode, choose
Overlay. Click ok.
You're layer palette should now look like
this and you're final picture should have come out like
this, depending of course on the colors you chose for the shirt.
